I live in a country (New Zealand) that has no snakes, and next to a country (Australia) that has 6 of the top 10 deadliest snakes. Seeing someone handle a snake is somewhat disconcerting, even when you know it’s harmless.
Actually, he’s not an albino at all! He’s leucistic, so his eyesight is fine. Also, he doesn’t bite people, as shown — he just nose-boops to say, “you’re in my personal bubble. Back off.”
I used to own Rat Snakes, the head booping, and tail rattling is when they feel threatened and want to scare something off. Their teeth are for holding on to whatever they bite so if you ever get bitten accidentally when feeding Dont Pull Away! The teeth will dig in to your skin and your skin will tear before they let go. Either wait for it to realize its missed or if its determined to hold on then soak it in cool water.

Actually snakes have a lovely spot for the tongue to hide to receive the scent molecules. =)

In my interpretation of this picture I’d say the throat is way further back, aligned with the back of the jaw.

NZ has no snakes? What else doesn’t it have? Because I decided years ago that I couldn’t ever visit Australia because everything there is deadly.
It only has one native poisonous spider, which is so rare your chances of seeing it are something like 1 in 10,000,000.
It does have some of the best scenery – everything from desert to rainforest, all packed into 2000km.
And, contrary to what an earlier Chaoslife comic says, our national bird (the Kiwi) is not blind.
True, but it also houses Mordor, so… ;D
