Learning Legba 6
Just scratching the surface of what Legba has meant to K (and us) so far.
BTW, it’s going to be K’s birthday on the 5th(!!!!) and it would mean a lot to me if you’d send her well-wishes! And for those who have asked, K’s Wishlist is here, but she personally loves things for the pets and cute photos/stories the most.
Hey there! Thanks to your support, we adopted a service dog for K and named him Legba! We’re still raising money to help pay for his professional training and certification, so it would mean a lot to us if you checked out our fundraiser! I want to thank everyone who’s been so generous, even simply by helping to spread the word. Please take a glance for more info!
Psst! His own wishlist is here!
We survive completely on your support! If you have a little spare change, you can keep us and our comics going lots of ways:
- Patreon – Support us per strip (you can cap at any amount per-month, even as little as $1) and gain access to bonus material, private blogs, and sneak peeks!
- Ko-Fi – Buy us a cuppa! Or anything else we could use in increments of $3, which is probably cat toys.
- PayPal.me – Donate any one-time amount! No muss, no fuss.
- Etsy – Check in on our store to find original comic linework, paintings, digital books, and whatever strange crafts struck our fancy!
Need to find us on social media? Look up “FindChaos” pretty much wherever.
Happy birthday K! Been following the comic for a while and I am so happy that Legba is already doing so much for you! Since I hear you like cute pet stories, here’s 3 for you!
1. In June 1997 my mom took my brother and I to the local animal shelter to “just look, not adopt.” When we were in the cat enclosure, I had my back to the cages just looking about when I felt a tap on my shoulder. Thinking it was my brother, I turn and see this seal point Siamese with the most gorgeous blue eyes LOUDLY informing me that I was to take him home as he was reaching through the bars to grab me again. Took a little convincing of my mom and step dad but I was able to bring him home and named him Sam. Sam and I quickly bonded and he always stayed by my side, even more so when I was in a horrible car accident in 2001. When I moved out of state, he rode shot gun with me and informed me LOUDLY what thought of my driving. In 2012 he had a health scare with hyperthyroidism but bounced back quickly with medication. However, in May 2014, he lost his battle to hyperthyroidism. Yes this is sad, but it quickly leads to story 2.
2. Two weeks after Sam passed, I had gone home for a baby shower and was informed about this “gorgeous friendly black cat” seen around my grandparents place so I went to check it out. When I stated getting closer to their front drive, I called “Kitty kitty kitty!” and immediately got a meow back. This went on three more times before I finally got to the porch to see him chilling on their porch couch. I sat at the far end to give him the chance to run if he was skittish. Instead, he comes right over and headbonks me. That was it, I was done. After checking he didn’t belong to any neighbors (we think he was abandoned), I took him home. Because of the book I was reading at the time, his full name is Prince Kheldar of Drasnia but just like in the book his nickname is Silk. He bonded with me just like Sam had and is as close–just without cuddles. He’s more of a plopper and roller (instead of laying on me, he plops and rolls to the side). He’s had a few moves too and is just as vocal about my driving but not as loud as Sam was. When my grandma passed away, he cuddled and nuzzled my face because he hated me crying. He also loves to rub up against the tattoo I have of Sam like he knows I still miss my oldest baby.
3. December 2017 I went to the local humane society to just look (I am slowly learning “just look” is not a real thing in an animal shelter). While there, I see this flirty orange female tabby flipped on to her back looking like she was smiling at me. Just like Sam and Silk, I was done. I needed her.As they brought her for introductions, I found out no one wanted her because she was getting over a kitty cold. I was not about to let that happen because in my mind I was already her furmom. I was reading the same series I got Silk’s name from so her full name is Imperial Princess Ce’Nedra of Tolnedra Queen of Riva. But once I realized she was a super shy girl who was even afraid of storms, she was given the nickname Cenny or CenCen. Once she was completely over her kitty cold, I introduced her to Silk over the course of 3 days. They bonded so much I see him a bit like an ESA for her for when I’m out working. If they’re not playing or fighting over the top of the cat tower then they are cuddling in some of the cutest ways. I’ve learned a lot with her because I’ve never had shy pets so I’ve changed a lot of my mannerisms so I don’t scare her.
It sucks that K has to deal with yet another health problem, but I’m really glad Legba is working out so well.
Aaand I’m crying. Kind of a lot.
Tearing up… your journey with Legba encouraged me to launch a gofundme to get a PSD for myself. It’s probably going to be a long while before I have enough, but it’s something I have hope for. I’m so glad you found each other ❤
Happy Birthday K!
Happppy Barfday tooooooooo you!!!!!!!!
Your comic helped me realize that I may be Agender. Thank you.
How are you two?
It looks like it has been a while since your last update. I have to say your art is amazing and being vulnerable can be hard and I am honored you would do that. I hope to see more and I hope all the best health and happiness to you and your family.
I just binged this entire comic and this was the best temporary ending.
Oh no, this was the last comic? Damn. Hope everything is fine. I love your comic and it was some relief to see another agender person. I noticed few and though I kind of know I am not not-normal or just weird or something, it still oddly helps to see “hey, they are too! I am not being silly!”
Just finished working my way thru the Archives.
Surprised to discover that they’ve stopped when they have.
I’m seriously hoping that this won’t be the end of this story.
2 jokes that I’m surprised have not yet been used here:
1)__I imagine that a rather “nerdy” joke might be built around the fact that “K” is the symbol used in the Periodic Table for the element “Potassium” … ?
2)__I’m also wondering if Reverend Stiffler has ever referred to “K” as their “Breakfast Cereal”? …
… you know …
… their “Special K”? …
… hello? … “Bueller”? … (crickets chirping)
