You want creepy ghost towns? I lived 20 years in the Goldfields district of Western Australia. There are a LOT of ghost towns, but they were mostly flung together with bush timber and canvas. So the buildings are long gone and all that’s left is the cemetery. You’re mooching along through the bush, in the middle of nowhere, and suddenly there’s half a dozen tombstones with dates from a century ago. It’s a bit surreal.
