Hospital Hours Part 8
This round of ChaosLife strips is a little different from the usual format, because as you can see, K spent some time in the hospital earlier this month.
Without getting into too long of a summary, it all started when K started experiencing complications (malnourishment/dehydration) from some food poisoning we caught. Once in the ER, she started going into shock and, a hurried round of tests and treatments later, they discovered her liver hasn’t been functioning at 100% and that she had a paraesophageal hernia on top of everything. We wound up staying for a few nights while she was given enough glucose, vitamins, and IV fluids to fill a small pool, while they simultaneously did more blood tests on her than I think I’ve had in my entire life.
We sporadically stayed in touch via social media, and the amount of love and well-wishes sent our way was overwhelmingly sweet and much needed. Thank you to everyone who reached out, we love you all so much. <3 This was a sudden, scary event that could have gone a lot worse and I can’t tell you how lucky I feel that we’re back at home together, able to share a slightly more serious slice-of-our-lives with a happy ending, after all.
We’ll be back with sillier comics and the next chapter of FindChaos right away, but let me tell you: this month was a doozy.
Bonus Photos!
If you like what we do around here and can afford even just $1 per month, consider supporting our Patreon! It pays our bills (which hopefully don’t include hospital bills soon! Hahaha, oh no…) and you can get access to fun stuff like behind-the-scenes comic work, exclusive podcasts, and a blog! We release about 8 comics per month, so you’re free to decide if you’d like to support all of them or just one or two comics at a time. We’re incredibly grateful either way!
:O
<3<3<3<3 I'm glad you're okay!!!!
That’s scary, glad K is okay!
Awww, I’m glad K’s okay!
Glad to hear K is alright!
Welcome back
Welcome back home with your kittens <3
I hope you’re both feeling better soon. As someone who gets admitted about 2 times a year at least (Crohn’s) it can take a few days to feel back to normal. It’s completely normal to feel a little shaky and more tired than usual. I always miss my pets when I’m in too. <3
Good luck and I hope you both feel much much better soon.
So sorry you had to experience that. I’m diabetic and have gone into acedocis several times in the past few months due to a faulty insulin pump. It really sucks. I’m so glad you’re okay and you guys are doing better!
Oh dear! I hope a full and rapid recovery is nigh.
My gosh, what a relief. Liver problems are no joke. Hope no big lifestyle changes are required.
When I was in the hospital, I tried to convince my husband that we needed to buy a house. Did she try to convince you of anything nuts?
Glad you made it home and got some rest.
Hey! Long time lurker from Reddit a bunch of years back where I discovered your excellent comics. I follow both your blogs with great interest. It makes me sad to hear about K’s health issues. Hope she gets better soon! Internet-stranger-hug to you both!
Wanted to say glad you were back home safe and that the facial expressions in these comics were really superb. Like seriously I’ve enjoyed the heck out of them.
I just now read these last few pages and I’m glad that everything ended up going okay. Even just reading the summary it sounds like a really scary experience to have to go through on both your ends…hopefully everything is better now and you won’t have any similar sort of scares in the near future. I always enjoy both of your comics and look forwards to the next installment, but yeah, its completely understandable for there to be delays when emergencies particularly health related ones come up. Hopefully K starts feeling better soon too, since it sounds like it was quite the ordeal to go through on her end.
That picture with Jiji got me. Hope K feels all better real soon.
I just found out!!! Glad you are both ok!!! Take things slow and get even more well!!! Kisses from Mexico!
Only just learned about this and that’s so scary. To think that something could happen so easily… *shudders*. Anyway glad you’re okay, the world needs people like you so you’re not allowed to get sick more :T
That’s why there were no comics. No worries, though, and I am glad you guys are feeling better!
Glad to hear that K is okay. I went through something similar (Leptospirosis is the most likely culprit at the moment) and had to spend four-and-a-half days (July 29 – Aug. 1) in the hospital getting poked, prodded, stuck (with no fewer than *three* blown veins to show for it!), CAT scanned, and getting about five liters of fluids pumped through me in order to clean out my possibly damaged kidneys. *NOT* a fun way to spend a weekend, let me tell you…
So happy that K’s okay! I think the kitties missed her, too.
